New York City, 1913. Brothers Irving and Jack Schott begin producing hardwearing, yet comfortable jackets in a basement on Manhattan's Lower East Side. They didn't wait long for success – the Schott brothers were the first tailors ever to put zippers in their jackets! Irving Schott happened to be a motorcycle enthusiast. In 1928, he created the first motorcycle jacket made of leather, calling the model "Perfecto." It became the symbol of adventure to a new generation. In the 1950s, the jacket made it to Hollywood. Stars like Marlon Brando and James Dean wore it, and then it became the uniform of bands like the Ramones and the Sex Pistols in the 1970s and 1980s.
After over 100 years, the small label with the big success story is still in the hands of the Schott family. Instead of watchiung the trends, the company focuses on "Made in America" quality and continuity.
