Rémy Richard began manufacturing shoes there in 1908. During a trip to the USA in 1926, he discovered rubber boots and galoshes, which inspired him to develop his own rubber soles for leather shoes. In 1927, he registered the name Paraboot – a combination of Pará, the Brazilian region from which the rubber used for the soles came, and \"boot\".\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"isSelectedEnd\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe production of rubber soles remains part of Paraboot's in-house manufacturing to this day. In Saint-Jean-de-Moirans in the Isère, the natural rubber soles are manufactured and vulcanized on-site. For the Clusaz, Paraboot combines this distinctive rubber sole with a Norwegian welt.
