Originally worn by Scandinavian fishermen as workwear, the Duffel Coat was introduced to the British Navy in World War II. Characteristic details include the protective hood, the heavy wool fabric and the large toggle fasteners that made it easier to open and close the front with gloves. The name " Duffel " comes from the town of Duffel in the province of Antwerp, Belgium, which specialized in the production of robust wool fabrics. Buzz Rickson's once again outdo themselves in authenticity with their version of a classic Duffel Coat. Made from a heavy 34oz Melton wool that is guaranteed to protect you from wet, wind and cold.
