The Varsity Jacket from Dehen 1920 is a prime example of American sportswear tradition – created in Portland and still manufactured there today.
William Peter Dehen founded the company in 1920 and initially produced knitted goods for high school and college teams. In 1951, the first varsity jacket was added to the product line – and quickly became a staple of American sports and youth culture.
Even today, Dehen remains true to its line: Each jacket is made in Portland on old machines, from heavy 24 oz Melton wool, with leather sleeves, sturdy knit cuffs and a neatly finished lining.
