The "Weird Guy Kawataro Selvedge" is Naked & Famous' latest interpretation of their Japanese Heritage Denims – this time as a Greencast version. The name alludes to Kawataro, the Japanese river demon Kappa, known for sumo wrestling, trickery, and his fondness for cucumbers.
The fabric: 14.5 oz Japanese selvedge denim, woven with low tension and irregular slub yarns. This creates a rough, uneven texture. The yarns are dyed with indigo using the rope-dyeing method. The uneven yarn structure absorbs the indigo to varying degrees. Over time, this creates striking contrasts and a vibrant, three-dimensional fade.
In addition, there are contrast seams, a pink selvedge edge, as well as rivets and buttons made of antique copper. A pair of jeans that carries the myth in its name - and the craftsmanship in the fabric.
"Weird Guy" features a slim silhouette that fits loosely at the waist and hips and is tapered from the knee down.
