When Yasuda Kayoji, himself born in Japan, founded the Union Supply Company in 1922, he made a name for himself with high-quality, functional workwear. The simple yet durable blouson jackets made of 10oz palaka check fabric quickly became standard on sugarcane and pineapple plantations.
