White T-Shirts for Men – Fit & Style Guide by Burg & Schild

White T-shirts sound simple. In reality, they’re one of the hardest basics to get right. Too thin, too tight, poorly cut — most T-shirts fail exactly where they should succeed: in fit and material.

A good white T-shirt doesn’t try to stand out. It just fits properly, holds its shape, and improves with wear.

That’s exactly why, at Burg & Schild, we’ve selected five models we truly stand behind — from Whitesville, The Real McCoy’s, Warehouse & Co., Velva Sheen, and Wonder Looper. Each one offers its own approach to what a great T-shirt should be.

Most of these are made using traditional loopwheel construction — slowly knitted on vintage machines, without side seams. The result: durable, stable, and built to last. (With one exception: Wonder Looper — more on that later.)

What Actually Matters

When it comes to white T-shirts, trends don’t matter. Three things do:

  • Fit – defines the silhouette and overall look
  • Fabric weight – determines structure and durability
  • Collar – often overlooked, but critical for balance

Everything else is secondary.

Fit Reference

Our model wears size M in all five T-shirts.
Height: 174 cm | Weight: 67 kg

Whitesville – classic, slim, iconic

This is the T-shirt that’s been getting a lot of attention recently — not least thanks to a certain chef in The Bear.

But the truth is: the hype is justified. This shirt doesn’t rely on marketing — it delivers on substance.

Originally an American label from the 1950s, Whitesville was revived by Toyo Enterprise in Japan with a clear goal: to recreate the perfect athletic T-shirt. No compromises.

Fit

The WV73544 is the slimmest shirt in this lineup — and that’s exactly its strength.

It sits close to the body without feeling restrictive, making it ideal for layering or wearing on its own. A subtle taper at the waist creates a clean silhouette, while the shoulders allow just enough room — even for broader builds.

The crewneck sits high and relatively tight, giving it a sharp, athletic look with a vintage edge. Best suited for slim to average body types.

Fabric

Made from 7oz loopwheel cotton. Noticeably heavier than standard T-shirts, yet still breathable and comfortable.

The surface is smooth and even, with no side seams to disrupt the structure.

Sold as a 2-pack (€89.95) — easily the best value in this selection.

Color: Pure white
Shrinkage: 1–2 cm (mainly in length at 30°C)
Tip: Consider sizing up

The Real McCoy’s – versatile, straight fit

The MC20000 is vintage precision at its finest.

What sets The Real McCoy’s apart is their obsessive attention to detail — from the cotton fiber all the way to the finished garment.

Fit

The fit is straight, but not loose.

A reinforced ribbed collar sits comfortably and holds its shape over time. The result is a clean, balanced T-shirt inspired by 1940s and 50s silhouettes.

Length is well-proportioned, making it easy to wear tucked or untucked.

Fabric

Made from 7.5oz loopwheel cotton with a dry, dense hand feel.

From the first wear, you notice the weight — and the quality. This is a shirt with real substance.

Color: Pure white
Shrinkage: Minimal to none at 30°C

Warehouse & Co. – slubby & relaxed

If you’re looking for character, you’ll eventually end up at Warehouse.

Warehouse Lot 4601 White T-shirt

The Lot 4601 channels mid-century sportswear through its texture and relaxed feel. As part of the legendary Osaka Five, Warehouse has played a key role in shaping the global vintage reproduction scene — and it shows.

Fit

Boxy, relaxed, and easy to wear.

More room in the chest and shoulders, combined with a slightly shorter length and soft drape. The high, tighter collar adds structure to an otherwise laid-back silhouette.

Fabric

Made from specially spun yarn with an irregular, slubby texture and subtle vintage feel.

At 6.5oz, it’s lighter than others here — but still surprisingly durable.

Color: Off-white
Shrinkage: 2–3 cm at 30°C

Velva Sheen – classic & timeless

If you’re after a true 1950s look, Velva Sheen delivers.

Velva Sheen Heavy Crew Neck White T-Shirt (2-pack)

Founded in Ohio in the 1930s, the brand originally supplied athleticwear to the US military. Today, production takes place in Japan — with the same focus on quality.

Fit

Classic and balanced, similar to The Real McCoy’s but with a softer feel.

Sleeves and shoulders sit close to the body, while the collar remains comfortably snug. With minimal shrinkage, the length stays intact — perfect for a clean tucked-in look.

Fabric

Dry, firm, and tightly knit.

At nearly 8oz, it offers a solid heavyweight feel without becoming bulky. Less textured than Warehouse, but more refined and consistent.

Color: Off-white
Shrinkage: Minimal to none at 30°C

Wonder Looper – heavy & robust

This is where things get serious.

Wonder Looper Double Heavyweight T-Shirt

The Double Heavyweight T-shirt from Wonder Looper comes in at a massive 12.1oz — the heaviest and most distinctive shirt in this lineup.

Not loopwheeled, but still rooted in craftsmanship.

Fit

Generous, with plenty of room in the chest and shoulders.

The dense fabric gives it structure — almost like a short-sleeve sweatshirt. A wide, flat collar completes the modern workwear feel.

Ideal for those who want something more substantial.

Fabric

Dense, tightly knitted, and raw in character.

This is a T-shirt built for transition seasons — or for those who simply want more from their basics.

Color: Pure white
Shrinkage: Minimal to none at 30°C

Finding the Right White T-Shirt

Here’s the point: there is no single “best” white T-shirt — only the one that works for you.

Some prefer the structured feel of The Real McCoy’s. Others lean towards the relaxed character of Warehouse or the slim profile of Whitesville.

The differences are subtle — but they matter.

Model Fit Description Best For
