In the 1960s, the US Navy introduced the A-2 deck jacket as a further development of the N-1, which was specifically designed for deck work. The jacket was available in two versions: the first model from 1962 was made of back satin, the second version from 1964 was made of jungle cloth.

A characteristic feature of these early models is the triangular pocket flap on the chest, which became rectangular in the later models. Another special detail are the brown cuffs, knitted from wool, which are true to the original and were used in the Jungle Cloth version.
