A-2 Deck Jacket "US NAVY" Olive Drab

The " The BR14956 Type DECK A-2 “BUZZ RICKSON MFG. CO.” from Buzz Rickson's is in direct line to the legendary N-1 – the jacket that was standard equipment for the US Navy during World War II. In the early 1960s, the A-2 was developed as a modernized version: lighter, more functional, and easier to manufacture, without losing its proven robustness.

Instead of the heavy Jungle Cloth of the N-1, Back-Satin was now used – a tightly woven cotton fabric that is durable, wind-resistant and at the same time more flexible. The warm alpaca lining was replaced by nylon pile – easy to care for, quick-drying and ideal for use at sea.

Typical features such as the concealed zipper with button placket, the inserted knit cuffs and the adjustable waist straps were retained. New additions included the chest pocket with a triangular flap, which later became rectangular – a detail that makes this early version so characteristic today.

Buzz Rickson's has faithfully reproduced all of that: from the matte olive drab color, which was reactively dyed, to the authentic labels on the inside. The cut remains functional – straight, slightly wider and perfect for layering.
