This jacket brings together two great chapters of Japanese textile art: Dorozome and Boro. Handmade in Japan, it is crafted from a jacquard weave with a Boro-inspired texture, then hand-dyed with natural mud on the Amami-Oshima coast—a process over 1,300 years old. The dyeing is based on tannins from the native sharibai plant and iron-rich sediment from prehistoric fields.
The result: an earthy, smoky shade with depth and character that cannot be replicated by industrial means. Fine sashiko stitching captures the aesthetics of classic repair techniques while also reinforcing the fabric—form and function in harmony.
Each jacket is unique – shaped by the knowledge of experienced dyers and the power of nature.
