The "SS39694 Cotton Linen Slubyarn Open Shirt - Chrysanthemum" by Sun Surf is based on a 1950s Aloha design, originally from the Cherry Blossom Brand.

The motif features chrysanthemums – a classic symbol of constancy and tranquility in Japanese culture. Such motifs often appear on Aloha shirts, influenced by the strong presence of Japanese immigrants in early Hawaiian textile production.

The fabric is a cotton-linen slub yarn. The irregular yarns create a slightly textured surface that gives structure to the print. The linen content ensures a dry feel and an airy drape.

The printing is done using a discharge process. The base color of the fabric is removed, and the motif is rebuilt. This keeps the surface soft, and the print gains depth without feeling like it's sitting on top of the fabric.
