French Work Chore Jacket Navy

Nigel Cabourn's "French Work Chore Jacket" is based on classic French work jackets from the first half of the 20th century.

The inspiration comes from chore jackets worn by craftsmen, farm laborers, and workshop workers in France – a clear, straight silhouette, patch pockets, and a purely functional design without additional details.

Made from ultra-high-density linen. Linen is one of the oldest natural fibers and also grows on barren soils with low agricultural effort. The short fibers are very tear-resistant and can be easily spun into coarse yarn, but are difficult to process into fine, even yarn. Dense weaving is also technically demanding and requires precise processing.

Here, finely spun, high-density woven linen is used. Through the Nidom process, the initial stiffness of the material is transformed into a controlled, wearable suppleness without losing the structure of the fabric.
