The Service Boot® is Viberg's cornerstone. In the 1930s, Edwin Viberg set out to develop what he believed to be the most robust and best-crafted boot for agricultural workers and prairie laborers. In 2007, the 310 last was developed by combining an old British climbing boot with a mid-century work boot. The iconic silhouette is defined by the so-called "Sprung Toe," which was developed in the early 1900s to create a rocking motion that made stiff-soled industrial boots more comfortable to walk in.
Horween Wooly is a Chromexcel variation that is filled with a heavy blend of unrefined lanolin, also known as "wool fat." This lanolin is a byproduct of wool production. Filling the leather with this heavy lanolin creates a very oily, "self-polishing" leather that easily conforms to the foot's shape after wear and break-in, once activated by warmth.
