The Service Boot® is Viberg's foundation stone. Edwin Viberg set out in the 1930s to develop what he believed was the strongest and best-crafted boot for farm and prairie workers. In 2007, the 310 last was developed by combining an old British climbing boot with a mid-century work boot. The iconic silhouette is defined by the so-called "spring toe", which was developed in the early 1900s to create a rocking motion that made stiff-soled industrial boots more comfortable to walk in.
Horween Wooly is a variation of Chromexcel that is filled with a heavy blend of unrefined lanolin, also known as "wool grease". This lanolin is a byproduct of wool production. Filling the leather with this heavy lanolin creates a very oily, "self-polishing" leather that easily conforms to the shape of the foot after wear and break-in once it has been activated by heat.
