The black "Sweaters, Wool, Turtle Neck, Black" is based on the sweater introduced by the US Army in the 1930s as an insulating layer under jackets and coats and is part of the Buzz Rickson's X William Gibson Collection.

To withstand the stresses, the shoulders and hem are knitted horizontally, while the front and back feature vertical knit patterns. The rib knit is reminiscent of the style of navy leather jackets like the G-1 at the hem.

The idea for an all-black collection originated from Buzz Rickson's fictional black MA-1 jacket, which the science fiction author designed for his protagonist in his book "Pattern Recognition." Buzz Rickson's brought this never-before-seen jacket to life, thus laying the foundation for the unique military memorabilia collaboration "Type Black."
