The "Washer Herringbone Check Western Shirt" from Sugar Cane revives the work shirts of American ranchers from the 1950s and 60s and translates them into an independent, Japanese version.

Made from a herringbone-woven check fabric, the shirt has a worn-in, soft feel right from the start. The wash gives the material a lively, slightly faded look, close to what you usually only see in old finds.

The Western DNA is evident in the details: continuous snap buttons, originally designed to release quickly in an emergency – for instance, if the shirt gets caught on equipment or horns.

Underneath the surface, it gets technical: The seams are executed with robust chainstitch construction, which gives the shirt additional stability and simultaneously creates that slightly uneven seam appearance known from old work shirts.
