The "Detonator 11.0" 902" by Double Helix adopts the classic design of early engineer boots. The 11-inch high shaft follows the proportions of historical work and motorcycle boots from the 1930s and 1940s. The 902 last features a sleek, balanced toe shape, giving the boot a clean, elongated silhouette.

For the shaft, Double Helix uses Horsebutt Stripe Leather – leather from the hindquarters and rump of the horse. It is characterized by natural, slightly wavy fibers that remain visible as fine stripes in the leather. The pure aniline dyeing preserves this structure and allows the material to develop more depth over time. The lining is also made of horsehide, following the consistent material construction of the boot.

The Detonator is manufactured with a Goodyear welt construction. This construction permanently connects the upper, welt, and sole, allowing for resoling later on. A sturdy leather insole forms the base inside, while the specially developed rubber sole with cork content complements the traditional construction. Together with careful craftsmanship, an engineer boot is created whose materials and construction are designed to evolve over many years.
