The " The SC11936 13oz. Denim Blouse 1936 Model by SUGAR CANE captures a brief but pivotal moment in workwear history: the year 1936, when details visibly changed and old and new constructions coexisted for a short time. The inspiration for this model comes precisely from this transitional period.
The jacket is made from 13oz Japanese selvedge denim, woven from irregular No. 7 yarns in both warp and weft. The result is a vibrant, slightly rough surface – reminiscent of early denims before industrialization smoothed everything out. The texture remains perceptible, developing depth with wear and telling its own patina story.
Characteristic of this version: the full-size front and cuff buttons, which replaced the smaller tack buttons at the time, as well as the distinctive T-back panel on the back – a detail that originally arose for reasons of material economy and is now one of the most sought-after features of early denim jackets.
Orange stitching adds subtle accents and underscores the pre-war character. Lighter denim is used under the left breast pocket flap, while the selvedge remains clearly visible along the front edges – small hints at the care with which this piece was constructed.
A classic Sugar Cane piece: uncompromising in material and workmanship, clean in its lines and made to last for many years. Not a fashion statement, but a genuine work piece with a provenance.
