224-66M 66 Model Mother Cotton

The "224-66M 66 Model Mother Cotton" jeans from DENIME, manufactured by WAREHOUSE & CO., adopt the construction details of the Levi's 66 Model from the late 1960s and early 1970s. A decisive step in this era was the elimination of rivets on the back pockets: after the originally used copper rivets, despite their later covering by denim, worked their way through and could scratch surfaces, Levi Strauss & Co. replaced them with bar-tack reinforcements from 1966 onwards. This construction standard of the 501 was used until 1971.

For the 224-66M, DENIME uses the so-called "Mother Cotton" denim from WAREHOUSE's XX-Series project. Based on historical denim fabrics from the 1920s and 1930s, a yarn structure was reconstructed together with Kurabo, in which American cotton is blended with Brown Cotton. The 7.3 × 7.3 yarn creates a distinctly irregular surface and is woven into selvedge denim on an old GL3 loom.

Unlike classic indigo denim, the warp in this version remains undyed. The natural fabric thus shows its characteristic light color and develops its own patina with wear. The workmanship is based on the details of the 66 Model: bar-tack reinforcements on the back pockets, button fly, iron tack buttons, and a paper patch.
