Based on the flight jacket that was standardized on May 8, 1934 as "Type B-3" and became an official part of the USAAF uniform. Details and features are an improved development of the British "Irvin" flight jacket, which was developed by Leslie Irvin, an American aerial acrobat and pioneer of parachuting. The Type B3 became the standard version of the "Heavy Zone" flight jacket for the next 10 years.
