The "MWX0017OL Barbour Beaufort Wax Archive" by BARBOUR takes up the cut that Margaret Barbour designed in 1983 for the first Beaufort jacket: a shorter-cut shape, inspired by French hunting jackets, with a large, nylon-lined back pocket for game. In Barbour's color palette, "Archive Olive" is the greenish olive tone that comes close to the original wax color of the 1983 model.
It is made of medium-weight, 6oz thornproof waxed cotton, Barbour's own wax recipe for its classic wax jackets. The wax makes the fabric wind and water repellent, loses its sheen over time and lightens visibly at creases and friction points - sleeve bends, pocket edges; regular re-waxing restores the protection without smoothing this patina. Inside is a cotton lining printed with the Barbour Classic Tartan.
The corduroy collar can be closed with an additional snap fastener, the front closure runs via a two-way zipper with a snap-button storm flap over it. In the front there are two bellows pockets, supplemented by two hip-high handwarmer pockets made of moleskin; the cuffs close with Velcro fasteners.
