In 1942, the Army Air Corps introduced the Type A-3 – a lightweight cap for mechanics that needed to be practical and durable for everyday use on the airfield. Buzz Rickson's has faithfully recreated this original: the fit, materials, and small details are exactly like the historical model.

Made from sturdy herringbone twill, the cap sits comfortably lightly on the head yet is built to withstand a beating. The visor is lightly pre-washed, the seams are reinforced, and the interior is neatly covered with cotton tape. A USAAF stamp on the back of the cap demonstrates its direct field inspiration.
