BR12266 M-51 Parka US Army Fishtail Olive

The M-51 Parka from Buzz Rickson's originated in the military, but quickly became part of a completely different world.

Created in the early 1950s as an evolution of the M-48, it was part of a well-thought-out layering system for cold operational conditions. Loosely cut, functionally designed, made to be worn over uniforms and additional layers. With the switch to cotton-nylon oxford, it became lighter, more robust, and more suitable for everyday use in the field.

After its military use, the parka found its way onto the streets. In the 60s, it was adopted by the Mod scene in England – often worn over suits, as protection on scooters, and as an integral part of the look. Practically conceived, it became a style-defining piece.

From there, the M-51 has endured for decades. Always reinterpreted, but rarely as close to the original as it is here.

Buzz Rickson's sticks to the military blueprint. The cut, material, and details are closely based on the historic parka.
