The "Brass Dream Belt" by Hollywood Trading Company echoes the language of American leather work from the mid-20th century. The decorative belt designs of that era emerged from motorcycle culture and Western work and leisure wear, often as custom-made pieces with ornamental rivet patterns along the leather strap. The so-called Vine design takes up this development and translates it into a curved, plant-like line that structures the belt along its entire length.
The base is a sturdy leather strap made of dark brown cowhide. The pattern of individually placed metal fittings is built up by hand. The arrangement does not follow a strict geometric grid but a flowing course that results from the respective position of the elements. This creates small irregularities in the image structure, which are part of the manufacturing process and do not cover but accompany the material effect of the leather.
The brass elements create a warm contrast to the dark leather surface. Over time, the metal develops a slightly matte patina, while the leather takes on a smoother surface and appears more densely packed. The ornamental band remains a structural element and changes its effect through the aging of the materials as it is worn.
