Nigel Cabourn’s "British Army Pant Loose Denim" is based on the 1940s British Army battle-dress trousers, enhanced with elements from the Rhodesian Army combat trousers of the 1960s.
One detail has been intentionally reinterpreted: the belt loops, originally designed for a pistol belt, have been inverted in their orientation, making them more practical for everyday use. In contrast, the construction of the interior waistband follows that of 1940s officer trousers – in terms of craftsmanship, these pants are closer to officer trousers than to simple fatigue pants.
The loose denim is a heavy cotton denim made from yarns of varying thicknesses. Its irregular surface gives the charcoal tone depth and changes with wear.
