Nigel Cabourn’s "British Officers Shirt" is inspired by the shirts worn by British officers and has been a staple of the brand for years. At first glance, it is a simple Oxford shirt – but the real effort lies in the fabric.

Instead of relying on off-the-shelf fabric, Nigel Cabourn starts with the raw material: short-staple cotton fibers are specially selected, blended, and spun into a custom yarn, which is then used as the weft in the Oxford weave. Yarn, fabric, and tailoring each take about two months, meaning the finished shirt takes around half a year to produce.

The weave is intentionally not perfectly uniform. Small slubs in the yarn and occasional dark specks from the natural cotton are inherent to the material. As it is worn, the fabric gains character and becomes softer.
