Cat Head Denim Chore Jacket

TCB's "Cat Head Jacket" is based on an original 1930s Duck Head Chore Coat. TCB disassembled the vintage piece and analyzed its cut, construction, yarn structure, color, and dyeing in detail. The jacket is made in Kojima, Japan.

For the denim, TCB developed its own 4-yarn fabric. The warp combines a smooth 8-count yarn and a short 9-count slub yarn in a 1:1 ratio. The weft combines a naturally irregular yarn and a 12-count nep yarn, also in a 1:1 ratio. The warp is rope-dyed in indigo, while the weft is reactive-dyed grey. TCB thus emulates historical workwear fabrics, where differently dyed yarns visually darkened the fabric and made dirt less visible.

Characteristic details include the asymmetrically arranged chest pockets, three different vintage-inspired button types, green bar tacks and buttonholes, and the unusual chain-stitch collar with a chin strap. The eponymous Cat Head motif replaces the Duck Head logo of the historical original.
