Pure Blue Japan's DNP-019-IDSM is cut as a Relaxed Tapered: a deeper rise than the slimmer PBJ models gives the hips and thighs more room before the leg tapers towards the hem.

The fabric is a 16oz selvedge denim with a double-nep construction – both warp and weft are spun from nep yarn, whose irregular knots give the surface a coarse, handmade character. The warp threads are dyed in indigo, while the weft threads are dyed with Sumi, a traditional ink based on natural charcoal. Compared to denim with a white weft, this gives the blue a deeper appearance and the overall tone a smokier, more muted feel.

The leather patch, leaf embroidery, and sewing thread are color-matched to this muted tone. The jeans are fastened with buttons and rivets made from PBJ's own metal hardware. The pair is delivered pre-washed (One Wash) before further wear fading sets in.
