The Field Shoes N-1 by The Real McCoy’s are based on the so-called "Boondockers", the field shoes of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps from the 1940s. Developed for use in harsh conditions, simple construction and durability were paramount.

The shoes are made from roughout steerhide, with the rough side of the leather facing outwards. This processing increases durability and makes the material more resistant to external influences. The leather is vegetable-tanned and develops a visible patina over time.

The construction follows the classic Blucher principle, which is characterized by open lacing and a functional fit. A rubber sole with incorporated fibers is used under the foot – a detail that harks back to historical models and provides the characteristic texture.

The shoe is built with Goodyear Welt construction, which offers stability and the possibility of repair.
