Eastman has revived the Scott Field Air Depot B-3 – one of the rarest variations of the legendary flight jacket. These jackets were made in 1937 in the workshops of the SFAD, where only repairs and maintenance were normally carried out. Three batches of complete B-3/A-3 flight suits were produced, recognizable by the embossed leather tab in the collar instead of a standard label.
This version differs from all others: unpigmented, double-sided merino sheepskin with a light white, velvety suede surface, produced in only tiny quantities. Originals are now considered coveted collector's items of military clothing.
For the reproduction, Eastman searched for the right material for years. Besides color and texture, the fine finish was crucial – achieved through the handcrafted process of "Fine Wheeling". The result is a jacket made of supple merino suede in an exact "Parchment White", combined with robust WarHorse® cowhide leather on the trim.
