The Haisy Mae Hat is one of the classic work and leisure hats of the first half of the 20th century. Its roots lie in the USA of the 1920s to 1940s, where wide-brimmed denim and twill hats were worn by farmers, railroad workers and craftsmen. The round crown and all-round brim offered protection from sun and weather and made the style a firm component of American workwear.

Indigofera manufactures the Haisy Mae from 10 oz ecru denim from Japan. The unbleached cotton fabric has a natural, light surface with a visible weave structure and develops an individual patina with wear. The pre-rinsed treatment gives the fabric a softer feel while remaining dimensionally stable.
