The "IH-717-BLK 9oz Mercerised Selvedge Cotton Straight Cut Chinos" by IRON HEART combine classic chino DNA with Japanese craftsmanship and the characteristic Iron Heart focus on fabric and construction. This straight-cut trouser is based on the brand’s iconic "634" jeans fit.

Chino twill has its roots in 19th-century military uniforms. The British Army in India, in particular, began using lightweight cotton fabrics in earthy tones starting mid-century. These less conspicuous colors were significantly better suited for use in dusty, arid landscapes than the eye-catching uniforms used until then. By the end of the 19th century, these cotton trousers found their way into everyday American clothing via U.S. soldiers returning from the Philippines. The exact origin of the name "chino" remains unclear to this day.

The IH-717 features a 9oz Japanese selvedge chino twill made from 100% cotton. The fabric is cold-mercerized, which increases the strength of the cotton fibers and yarns while providing a smoother surface. The warp and weft are reactive-dyed, ensuring high color fastness. Despite its relatively light weight, the fabric is designed for longevity.
