Italian Chino Trousers Beige

PREQUEL's "P1003 Italian Chino Trousers" are based on the cut of Italian military chinos from the 1950s and 60s. Such chino trousers were issued to units of the Italian Navy, among others; today they are primarily preserved as rare, mostly unworn stock among collectors of European military clothing. PREQUEL adapts this cut – loose in the thigh and seat, with a pleat for freedom of movement – into an everyday-wearable form.

The fabric is based on the American chino twill of the 1940s, as produced for the US Army under the designation "M-1941". PREQUEL reconstructs this fabric based on its own textile archives, but deviates from the original by sulfur-dyeing the weft thread. This creates an irregular thread appearance and fading over time, similar to aged vintage chino, without the fabric appearing dull when new.

The small, concealed buttons on the waistband and the flap back pockets come from military design logic – contents should not fall out in the field – but their understated execution makes them appear less technical than their American counterparts.
