Die "LK-019 Military Desert Boots Japanese Suede Brown" von John Lofgren greift eine Stiefelform auf, die im Zweiten Weltkrieg in Kairos Bazaren entstand: britische und südafrikanische Soldaten ließen sich dort Stiefel aus Wildleder mit Krepp-Gummisohlen anfertigen, dem Wüstenklima besser gewachsen als das übliche Armeeschuhwerk. Nach dem Krieg setzte sich die Silhouette in der zivilen Mode fort, in den USA ab den 1950er-Jahren, in Großbritannien vor allem bei den Mods der 1960er- und 1970er-Jahre.
Für dieses Modell verarbeitet John Lofgren braunes japanisches Wildleder mit einem Futter aus japanischem Leder. Wildleder nimmt Gebrauchsspuren anders auf als glattes Leder: Es dunkelt an Kanten und Knickstellen mit der Zeit nach und entwickelt eine gleichmäßig mattere, leicht angeraute Oberfläche statt einer glänzenden Patina.
Die Brandsohle ist bei diesem Modell nicht nachträglich eingeklebt, sondern im Rahmen der Stitch-Down-Konstruktion direkt mit Oberleder, Futter und Zwischensohle vernäht – ein Schritt, den viele Desert Boots aus Kostengründen durch eine geklebte Innensohle ersetzen.
