The "Late S40's Jeans" by TCB reconstructs a pair of jeans from the second half of the 1940s, based on a vintage original. They are manufactured in Kojima, Okayama, the center of Japanese denim production.
The 13.5oz selvedge denim was developed with the goal of replicating the irregular texture and fading of old jeans. TCB uses two different types of slub yarns in the warp: a longer, softer 7.5-count yarn and a shorter, stronger 6.5-count yarn. The weft uses a 6-count yarn with about half the slub structure. This combination creates a denim with deliberately varying yarn thickness, whose different areas age differently when worn, resulting in high-contrast fading.
The cut is a Regular Straight with an average rise and typical widths at the thigh and hem. The jeans are one-wash, meaning they have already been washed once. The original red tab on the back has been replaced in the current version by an indigo-dyed tab, which will also change and fade over time.
