The M-1943 was the US Army's answer to the many different uniforms that had been in use up to that point. A field jacket that was supposed to work universally – from rain and mud to cold and wind.

Buzz Rickson's has faithfully recreated this piece of history. The cut remains generous, designed for layering. The fabric: strong back satin, dense, durable and dyed in olive drab – for camouflage, not for show.

Four large pockets almost replace the backpack, concealed buttons prevent anything from getting caught. And the collar can be closed with a strap when the wind becomes biting.

The M-43 set the standard against which later generations of field jackets – M-51, M-65 – had to be measured.
