The "TYPE L-2A" from THE REAL McCOY's is based on the innovative flight jacket that was first made of nylon for warmer climates and seasons towards the end of World War II.

As the Korean War approached, the USAF changed the color of most of its flight uniforms from "Olive Drab" to "Air Force Blue" to distinguish itself from the other services and demonstrate its independence. However, experience in combat zones showed that survivability was significantly higher in camouflage. Therefore, the Air Force's blue flight jacket was used primarily in non-combat zones until the end of the Korean War, resulting in a relatively short production run for the "L-2A."

The "TYPE L-2A" from THE REAL McCOY'S is authentically recreated down to the smallest detail. Crafted from a specially manufactured nylon fabric that faithfully reproduces the properties of the extremely durable nylon material of the 1950s. Nylon 66 was invented by the DuPont Co. and became the preferred material for military jackets due to its excellent durability and flame resistance.
