The "Mountain Pom Beanie" by Nigel Cabourn is inspired by a 1970s group photo of mountaineers taken at their base camp. Its shape and pom-pom are based on the knit hats worn there.

The beanie is knitted from 100% wool. Wool retains its warmth even when damp, which is why it was the standard material for mountain headwear for a long time.
