The "N-3B VF 59" from Alpha Industries has its roots in US Air Force military equipment and was developed for operations in extreme cold conditions. In the 1950s and 1960s, pilots and flight personnel needed a jacket that offered protection from icy temperatures and strong winds, while still allowing freedom of movement. From these requirements, the N-3B Parka was developed - robust, functional, and designed for maximum thermal performance.

Over the years, the N-3B made its way from military hangars to the city. Adopted by emergency services, later by urban subcultures and style-conscious wearers, it evolved into a reliable winter basic.

The VF 59 takes up this heritage and reinterprets it for everyday life. Made from durable material and lightly padded, the parka is ideal for transitional periods: it offers protection on cool days without being cumbersome, and can be easily combined with thicker jackets or layering when winter really hits.

At our request, Alpha Industries has produced a "Minimalist Edition" for us. The usual external details such as flags on the sleeve pocket, the "Remove Before Flight" tag, or leather pullers on the zipper have been deliberately omitted. This creates a clean, reduced version of the MA-1, where cut, material, and heritage are the focus.
