The "Original Printed Open Collar Shirt (Kasuri)" from OLD JOE BRAND takes inspiration from the relaxed summer shirts of the 1940s and 1950s. The open collar, extended top loop, absence of a back yoke, and gently rounded collar tips follow historical constructions that prioritized a flowing silhouette and natural drape.
For the shirt, OLD JOE developed its own broadcloth fabric. Fine 40/1 Tencel yarn is used in the warp, while a 20/1 yarn made of rayon and linen is processed in the weft. This creates a fabric that combines the soft drape and subtle sheen of cellulose fibers with the dry, slightly textured structure of linen. The natural slubs of the linen fibers are intentionally visible, giving the surface depth and movement.
The Kasuri motif is printed onto this specially developed fabric and appears particularly natural due to the lively fabric structure. The print and material intertwine, creating an impression that is more reminiscent of a woven pattern than a classic surface print. Over time, the fabric will become softer, while the characteristic structure of the linen and the fine nuances of the print image will become even more apparent.
