The "RJ-1 Riders Jacket Waxed Canvas Tumbleweed" by Freenote Cloth is the jacket Kayce Dutton has ridden through "Yellowstone" in since the first season in 2018. Its worn, lived-in look isn't a costume trick — it comes from the waxed canvas itself: over time it develops its own uneven patina, so no two jackets age the same way.
It is made from 10oz Martexin Waxed Canvas, a waxed cotton fabric that has been produced by Fairfield Textile in New Jersey for over 80 years and was originally developed for tents, workwear, and military equipment. The wax layer makes the dense fabric water-repellent and causes it to lighten over time at creases, while a darker, shinier patina forms in heavily used areas. The sleeves and torso are lined, making the heavy jacket easier to put on and take off.
The leather patch comes from SB Tanning Co, a tannery founded in 1872 in Red Wing, Minnesota, which also supplied Red Wing Shoes since 1905.
