The "Rustic Amundsen Souvenir Jacket" from Old Joe Brand is based on classic Japanese souvenir jackets, which originated in the years after World War II. At that time, stationed US soldiers had individually embroidered jackets made in Japan – often with dragons, tigers, or landscape motifs. These so-called "Sukajan" developed from this practice into a unique garment, combining military souvenir and local craftsmanship.

The base is an Amundsen fabric made from cotton and jute. The weave creates a distinctly structured, slightly irregular surface with a dry feel. Jute introduces short, strong fibers into the fabric, providing grip and tension, while cotton balances the structure and gives the fabric stability. This results in a textile material with visible depth and a natural, slightly grainy surface.
