The SD-1001EW "GL3" jeans from STUDIO D'ARTISAN are based on a classic Regular Straight fit and use the distinctive GL3 Selvedge Denim in an unbleached ecru finish.

The fabric is woven on the Toyota GL3 Shuttle Loom - one of Japan's earliest mechanical looms. These machines have been out of production for decades, spare parts no longer exist, meaning maintenance is only possible using components from decommissioned equipment. Operation is consequently elaborate and slow, with a production output of only about 5 meters of denim per hour. These very limitations shape the character of the fabric: irregular, rough, and with a clearly visible slub structure.

It is made from 15oz GL3 Slubby Selvedge Denim from 100% cotton. The ecru version completely foregoes indigo and shows the natural color of the cotton fiber. This brings the yarn structure and weave pattern to the fore and develops its own patina with wear.

Note: The jeans run about two sizes small - W34 therefore corresponds to a regular W32.
