THE REAL McCOY'S Snap Front Pull-Over Fleece is based on American outdoor clothing. It has its origins in the climbing culture of the 1970s that developed in places like Joshua Tree National Park and Yosemite Valley.

As the climbing scene grew, so did the demand for functional products, and synthetic fleece material was a milestone in the development of fabric technology in the late 1970s. By brushing acrylic fibers, fleece was created that imitated the look of natural shearling. The result was a fabric that was not only warm and waterproof, but also exceptionally soft. Compared to wool, its natural counterpart, acrylic has the advantage of being twice as good at insulating.
