Star of Hollywood "Shrunken Head" Open Shirt Purple

The "Hopsack Rayon Open Shirt 'Shrunken Head'" by Star of Hollywood features one of the brand's rarest motifs. The so-called "Shrunken Head" pattern first appeared in the 1950s and is now one of the label's most sought-after designs. Originals are known to exist only in very small numbers and have been considered almost impossible to find by collectors for years.

The shirt is made from a rayon hopsack fabric. The open hopsack weave gives the fabric a slightly grainy texture and a dry feel, while rayon ensures a soft drape and fluid movement. This creates a material with a noticeable texture that remains light and airy at the same time.

The motif is applied using a discharge printing process. This involves removing the color from the already dyed fabric, making the print part of the weave and allowing the surface to retain its soft hand. Compared to later interpretations, the original Star of Hollywood version features smaller motifs and a denser arrangement of the pattern.
