The TYPE A-1 from The Real McCoy's originates from a time when Flight Jackets were still heavily influenced by civilian leather apparel. Developed in the late 1920s, the A-1 appears significantly lighter and more elegant than later military models – closer to a classic Sports Jacket than the heavy Flight Jackets of the 1940s.

For this version, The Real McCoy's uses vegetable-tanned sheepskin with an aniline finish. The natural structure of the leather remains visible and changes increasingly with wear.

Even the smaller details are based on early military specifications: Water buffalo buttons, sewn with cotton thread, as well as additional snap fasteners in the lower front area, as they appeared in the late production phase of the A-1.
