Die TYPE A-1 von The Real McCoy’s stammt aus einer Zeit, in der Flight Jackets noch stark von ziviler Lederbekleidung beeinflusst waren. Ende der 1920er Jahre entwickelt, wirkt die A-1 deutlich leichter und eleganter als spätere Militärmodelle – näher an einer klassischen Sports Jacket als an den schweren Flight Jackets der 1940er Jahre.

Für diese Version verwendet The Real McCoy’s ein vegetabil gegerbtes Sheepskin mit Anilin-Finish. Die natürliche Struktur des Leders bleibt sichtbar und verändert sich mit dem Tragen zunehmend.

Auch die kleineren Details orientieren sich an frühen Militärspezifikationen: Wasserbüffelknöpfe, vernäht mit Baumwollgarn, sowie zusätzliche Druckknöpfe im unteren Frontbereich, wie sie in der späten Produktionsphase der A-1 auftauchten.
