In 1944, the U.S. Marine Corps introduced new Herringbone Twill utility trousers, designed for rugged field use. Buzz Rickson's "M-1944 Herringbone Pants" precisely capture this late-war model and reproduce it with great accuracy.
The robust cotton herringbone twill combines durability with good mobility and develops more character with each wear. The distinctive herringbone fabric was standard equipment for American forces for many years and remains one of the most iconic military fabrics of that era.
Large bellows pockets on the thighs, patch back pockets, and the wide gas flap behind the button placket show that these trousers were consistently developed for military daily life. The eyelets in the waistband were for hook suspenders – a detail that is almost forgotten today, but was then a self-evident part of the equipment.
