Die "Uneven Dyed Crew Socks" von Anonymous Ism sind nach der Färbetechnik benannt, die seiner Oberfläche die charakteristische, leicht meliert wirkende Tiefe gibt: Die Baumwolle wird bereits im Kammzug gefärbt, also bevor die Faser zu Garn versponnen wird. Dadurch verteilt sich die Farbe ungleichmäßig innerhalb der einzelnen Fasern, und erst beim Stricken ergibt sich das unruhige, tonale Bild, das dem Modell seinen Namen gibt. Anonymous Ism, ein 2002 gegründetes japanisches Strumpflabel, verarbeitet Garne dieser Art auf niedrig geteilten Rundstrickmaschinen aus den 1970er-Jahren, für die kaum noch Ersatzteile zu bekommen sind.

Die Mischung aus Baumwolle, Nylon und Elasthan ist auf Alltagstauglichkeit ausgelegt: Baumwolle sorgt für Weichheit und Saugfähigkeit, der geringe Nylonanteil erhöht die Abriebfestigkeit an Ferse und Spitze, Elasthan hält die Form über den Wadenverlauf.
