The "USN 41 Service Shoes" by JELADO are based on the black U.S. Navy service shoes from the early 1940s. Designed for daily use with a uniform, they feature a clear, functional design language with balanced proportions and a simplified construction.
An original pair from that era served as the template. Characteristic features include the slightly elongated toe, six blind eyelets, and the reinforced heel section with a T-structure, as used in early Navy service shoes. The lines remain clean and precise, without decorative elements.
The upper material is made from tea-core kip leather with a glass finish. Kip leather comes from young cattle and has a fine, dense fiber structure, which is well-suited for dimensionally stable shoes. The surface is heavily smoothed and compacted, creating the typical deep luster. Beneath the black dye is a brown leather core. Over time, this will show through at edges and heavily used areas, developing an individual patina.
The shoe is built on a historically inspired 1940s US Navy Service Shoe last. The shape is slim, with a slightly elongated toe and balanced proportions, designed for functionality in military everyday life.
A classic leather sole is used underfoot, complemented by subtle rubber inserts for added grip in everyday wear.
