Jackman's "Dotsume Short Shorts" weigh more than you would expect from a pair of shorts – no coincidence, but by design: they are made from the same 11.5oz Dotsume-Tenjiku Fabric as the brand's well-known Dotsume T-Shirt, an exceptionally heavy cotton knit made on old Tsuriami circular knitting machines in Japan.
These machines were standard until the 1960s before faster equipment replaced them; their free-hanging, low-tension yarn feed results in a dense yet supple knit that hardly loses its shape even after frequent washing.
The waistband and pockets remain deliberately simple: elastic waistband without drawstring, slanted side pockets. The short leg length gives the Short Shorts their name.
