The black "BR80596 A-2 Jacket" is based on the Type A-2 Rough Wear 23380, the third of five orders that the Rough Wear company produced for the US Air Force.

Through a complex "pigment finishing" process, the originally brown horse leather is dyed black. The brown core appears in the areas subject to wear and gives the jacket a unique patina.

The idea for an all-black collection was inspired by Buzz Rickson's fictional black MA-1 jacket, which the science fiction author designed for his protagonist in his book "Pattern Recognition". Buzz Rickson's brought the never-before-seen jacket to life and laid the foundation for the unique militaria collaboration "Type Black".
